In 2020, Jake and Chad didn’t set out to build a company. They just wanted to flip a house or two and make a little money. Their first deal? A small condo in Bryan, Texas — and, like many first ventures, it didn’t go quite as planned. No profit, just lessons. But it lit a fire.

What started as a side hustle quickly turned into a full-time obsession. Over the next four years, they flipped more than 60 homes, learning the ins and outs of construction, design, negotiation, and project management — all while proving they had the drive and resilience to succeed in a competitive industry.

As their reputation grew, so did their ambitions. Flipping gave way to brokerage, development, and property management. Today, the Arete Companies umbrella has brokered over $75 million in real estate transactions, developed over $3.5 million worth of missing middle housing, and has $20 million more in the pipeline.

Along the way, they’ve assembled a team of agents, operators, and advisors who share a single mission: the pursuit of Arete — the Greek concept of excellence in everything. Though still young, the Arete leadership team boasts over 40 years of combined real estate experience, covering every corner of the industry: from sourcing deals to closing them, from building homes to managing them with care.
